Odor Control
Long-lasting Freshness
Odor challenges in textiles arise from the interaction of sweat, heat, and environmental conditions that promote the buildup of volatile odor molecules. Non-biocidal odor control technologies address this challenge without disrupting microbial ecosystems, instead using advanced adsorption mechanisms to capture and neutralize odorants on contact. At AGS, we develop and distribute plant-based, scientifically validated solutions that deliver reliable, high-performance odor control while aligning with global expectations for safer, more sustainable chemistry.
The Differentiation Factor
Non-biocidal odor control refers to technologies that manage odor without killing or inhibiting microorganisms. Instead of acting on bacteria, these systems target the odor molecules themselves, compounds such as isovaleric acid, acetic acid, and ammonia that are responsible for persistent malodor. By focusing on the odorants, our technologies provide effective performance while avoiding the regulatory and environmental headwinds associated with antimicrobial chemistries.
As apparel, footwear, home textiles, and other textile products absorb moisture and interact with the environment, odor molecules accumulate on the fiber surface. Without an odor management system, textiles can quickly develop unwanted smells, reduce wearer satisfaction, and require frequent washing. This not only affects the user experience but also contributes to increased resource use through additional laundering and premature product replacement. Effective odor control supports product longevity, enhances comfort, and reduces the environmental burden associated with textile care.
The Added Value
Non-biocidal odor control offers broad value across the textile value chain. Mills gain a finish that is compatible with common substrates, easy to apply, and durable to multiple wash cycles. Brands and retailers benefit from clear, defensible claims centered on freshness and comfort, without the regulatory complexities associated with antimicrobial agents. Consumers experience garments and textiles that stay fresher for longer, reducing the need for frequent laundering and extending the useful life of the product. For sustainability-driven markets, non-biocidal odor control presents a responsible, high-performance alternative that aligns with modern expectations for safety, environmental stewardship, and real-world functionality.

The AGS Advantage
Non-biocidal odor control technologies operate through adsorption, a physical and chemical attraction that draws odor molecules toward functional groups on the treated article. AGS solutions leverage the unique structure of castor oil and coconut oil-derived fatty acids, further functionalized through specialty chemical processing to enhance their affinity for low molecular weight odorants. When applied during textile finishing, the treatment forms a durable bond within the fiber matrix, enabling rapid capture of odor compounds as they form and preventing their release back into the environment. This mechanism delivers long-term effectiveness without relying on biocidal activity. Once our technologies breakdown an odor compound, they reset which allows the functional groups to attract and form bonds with new odor compounds. For optimal performance, a treated article must be laundered after extensive use to fully reset the performance capability. At AGS, we design each of our technologies to provide durable and reliable performance.
